Maybe after this election, we will finally have a third party in this country.  The PoMo Party.  Jonah Goldberg offers an interesting opinion about Obama and his Postmodern views.

Asked to define sin, Barack Obama replied that sin is “being out of alignment with my values.” Statements such as this have caused many people to wonder whether Obama has a God complex or is hopelessly arrogant…There is a…possibility. Obama is a postmodernist…”PoMos” hold that there is no such thing as capital-T “Truth.” There are only lower-case “truths.”

Now, even though I doubt that Obama really thinks he is God or a god, it’s sometimes hard to stay convinced of that when he says that he/we can control the ebb and flow of the oceans. [HT: BTW]

So this is how you do politics in America. Devaluate and depreciate opponent’s public image. Baddaboom. You automatically look better. PS never talk about yourself or what you want to do or what you believe in or anything. Focus on your opponent.
    Gimme a break….

Jonah Goldberg is here, as always, a raving idiot. Every candidate for the past fifty years has been a postmodernist, and postmodernism (and please, please don’t ever call it “pomo”) actually was not a fad of the 80s, but rather descends from Nietzsche and really takes hold in the 50s. Bill Clinton and W are master postmodernists, as was Nixon.

Furthermore, if you actually read the transcripts that Goldberg links, Obama clearly understands sin as a transgression of of his values because he sees his values as being in line with those of Christianity. Ask yourself: if transgressing your values isn’t sin, what’s the point of having your values?
Assuming that *this* makes him a postmodernist, as well as assuming that being a postmodernist makes him a leftist radical idiot, is to misunderstand postmodernism.
