Smoking Was Helping the Children…Wasn’t it?

Wait a minute folks…I thought I remember hearing that the new proposed taxes on cigs were going to help THE CHILDREN.  Yeah, here it is.  I knew I didn’t make that up.

“The Tennessee General Assembly in June approved a 42-cent cigarette tax increase to help fund education. And federal lawmakers are working to reconcile bills recently passed by the House and Senate that would raise cigarette taxes to fund a children’s health care plan. “

Just a few months ago I started smoking, 4 packs on week days, and 6 packs on weekends.  I thought I was helping the children.  I was willing to sacrifice my own health for the sake of children that I may never meet…now the state is telling me that I can’t help the children publicly.  I am at a loss.  I guess I’ll have to give up smoking and start playing the lottery…that’s still helps THE CHILDREN…right?

Yeah. They passed a law down here in Florida a few years ago banning smoking at all public places. My city fire & police have to sign an affidavit swearing that they haven’t smoked in at least a year prior to employment.

I’ve been wondering how we’re supposed to help the children if we can’t smoke anywhere.
