Today, I helped a friend prepare his condo to go on the market. In order to replace kitchen counter tops and bathroom vanities, we had to replace the water valves on all the hot and cold water supply lines. Due to the age and corrosion of the valves, this was the only option to replace the tops properly.
I have very limited experience with plumbing…unclogging a toilet and replacing the PVC trap under a sink, but today my relationship with God became much deeper.
We replaced and re-soldered 6 new copper supply lines and valves. After about 8 hours, two trips to Lowes, and Chic-fil-a sandwich, we were ready to open the main water line. (By the way, we shut off the water to 5 other condos…sorry folks).
During and just prior to turning the water back on, I prayed, “Dear God, please don’t let this condo flood. You know I have no idea what I am doing, but for [my friend's] sake, don’t make [my friend] regret he asked me to help.”
I was standing on a chair on the main floor, with the cell phone pressed to my ear when I said, “Here we go.” (My friend was in the condo watching for an eruption of water). The half second it took for him to respond seemed like…well…at least three.
“Any leaks?” I asked.
Then by God’s grace…
My friend answered, “Nope. It’s all good up here.”
Not only does God answer prayers, but he give abundant grace to idiots who don’t know what they doing.
