Knoxville’s New Slogan??? A Contest.

Filed under: KTOWN GEAR by SVD

Frank Cagel says in the MetroPulse that Knoxville “is a great place to do nothing.”  At first I thought this was a not so subtle attempt at authoring another “Couch-gate“…but then I read the whole article (as should you).

“The cynics among us have long suggested, usually from a perch on a downtown bar stool, that our slogan ought to be: “Knoxville, a great place to visit on your way to Pigeon Forge.” Knoxville has long searched for an identity and the discussion often comes back to losing Music City to Nashville and the aquarium to Chattanooga and the Gateway to the Smokes to Gatlinburg.”

So KTOWN is sponsoring a slogan contest.

What should be Knoxville’s new slogan?

And I’m not talking about some visitor center, brochure fronting, ad campaign slogan.  I am talking about the kind of slogan that only us locals get, but in some strange way, non-locals want to be all up on.

It’s like wearing dark, thick-rimmed glasses, before it was COOL to wear dark, thick-rimmed glasses….yeah that kind of slogan.

Submit your entries via the comments (one per e-mail address please), KTOWN will choose the top 5 and let the KTOWN audience choose via a poll.

The first place prize will be a KTOWN T-shirt with Knoxville’s Slogan on it.

The second place prize will be a KTOWN bumper sticker, with Knoxville’s Slogan on it.

Good Luck.  Make Knoxville proud.

UPDATESee.  KTOWN is on the map.
