Obama,
Religion by

I am pretty sure that I remember when W. was running for President and while President he was accused…of all things…making decisions based on his faith and by praying to God for guidance. And I also remember that the press and the left blasted W. for trying to impose religion on the US and establishing a theocracy.
THERE IS A WALL SEPARATING CHURCH AND STATE! Isn’t there?
But fast forward eight years, and now Obama not only speaks regularly about his religion, Christianity, but he is appearing IN churches giving political speeches. Sure McCain has appeared in churches, too. But the point here is what happened to the left’s opposition of Christianity on public display….and from a politician.
Dr. Mohler states it better than me:
“I was not very hopeful about the Saddleback Civil Forum on the Presidency held at the California megachurch last Saturday night. In the first place, I am not really comfortable with the idea of hosting such a politically charged event in a church. No matter how the event is planned and projected, once the event starts it can turn into something far more politically volatile than planned.”
Where’s the outcry? Where’s the rage? Where the fear that Obama would try to establish a theocracy? Will Obama tear down that “wall?”
(Now, in my opinion, there is no such wall…and a true study of history of the phrase from a letter penned by Jefferson to the Danbury Baptists reveals the opposite meaning as it used today…)
But let’s assume that there is a wall between church and state, Obama gets to ignore it because….why?
And why does the press and the left not care that ‘religion’ seems to be such a big part of Obama’s life?

Maybe after this election, we will finally have a third party in this country. The PoMo Party. Jonah Goldberg offers an interesting opinion about Obama and his Postmodern views.
Asked to define sin, Barack Obama replied that sin is “being out of alignment with my values.” Statements such as this have caused many people to wonder whether Obama has a God complex or is hopelessly arrogant…There is a…possibility. Obama is a postmodernist…”PoMos” hold that there is no such thing as capital-T “Truth.” There are only lower-case “truths.”
Now, even though I doubt that Obama really thinks he is God or a god, it’s sometimes hard to stay convinced of that when he says that he/we can control the ebb and flow of the oceans. [HT: BTW]

You know Knoxville is getting to be a great place to live when Greenpeace stages protests here.
From the KNS…
All seven environmental activists arrested this morning during a protest against Kimberly-Clark at the company’s administrative center on Summitt Hill Drive downtown have been identified.
Crazy liberals make me laugh. Good for them…at least they are living out their convictions….except for this part…
“Greenpeace demands that Kimberly-Clark stop wiping away our treasured, ancient forests to make disposable products like tissue and toilet paper,” the organization said in a statement.
Like creating a huge banner with “KleeneX Wiping Away Ancient Forests” printed on it is more renewable than trees.
Photos here.

First you have a ridiculous story like this.
Then blogs pick up on it. Here and Here.
And finally, the icing on the cake here. (See the update by Greg Compton)…theater major…awesome.
So for those of you youngsters hanging out in the Presidential Courtyard, smoking cigarettes, playing the bongos, and talking about your theater class this semester…if you stick it out, there’s $50K a year waiting for you.

What’s with all the hugging? I mean, I get it. You’re supporting one another, you’re a team, it’s all GO USA and stuff. Sure I get that….but the hugging???? Every time for everything, good or bad? Doesn’t the hug loose its meaning. For example, you go flying off the uneven bars…hug. You nail the landing on the vault…hug.
What does it mean? Don’t get me wrong, I can’t, couldn’t, and wouldn’t want to do what those athletes do. But the hugging has to stop. Just throw a high-five in there, a chest bump, or something. Give the hug a break…save it for the medal ceremony.
With that said….GO USA…(hugs)

On our way to and from the New L.A. this weekend, my wife was forced to spend “quality time” with me in the T&C. As I was going on and on about God-knows-what…probably politics, business, buying a home in the currect real estate market, blah blah blah….
I must have been drilling her with questions about God-knows-what when she responded to one of my questions with fits of laughter.
I asked her what was so funny, to which she replied…
I’m laughing because it’s easier than crying.
At that point, I shut my mouth and she enjoyed the rest of the drive. Love you, darling!
