Glad to see that former Vol QB and current NC congressman, Heath Shuler, is learning the ropes so quickly at his new job. FromWSJ:
“North Carolina Democratic congressman Heath Shuler, a former NFL quarterback, sent a letter criticizing the league’s stance to NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell. Mr. Shuler says that if the league won’t budge, he plans to draft federal legislation that would exempt churches from the screen-size restrictions.”
Is that what the people of NC really sent him to Washington to do?
But more disturbing than Shuler trying to legislate football/church relations, is the fact that many churches would show this un-edifying (if that’s even a word) event IN their houses of worship. The Super Bowl has become less about football and more about commercials, consumption, sex, and self-gratification…a great American pastime…I guess.
CJ has a few good tips on watching the Super Bowl and filtering out all the hype.
(I must be getting old, but how can I watch the game with my boys in a few years without a quick trigger finger on the remote?)
