I am so excited about the Bush Tax Rebate deal announced today. Finally, the Republicans and the Democrats have come together to collectively buy votes prior to an election. It’s nice to see them getting along. I know what I am doing with my money, and by my money I mean the money that the feds took from me to spread around, waste on needless spending, and then graciously give back to me….I am going to get a new car.
I saw on TV, a local car dealership was offering a REBATE on the purchase of a new car. So based on this definition of a rebate…
“Individuals who pay income taxes would get up to $600, working couples $1,200 and those with children an additional $300 per child under the agreement. Workers who make at least $3,000 but don’t pay taxes would get $300 rebates“
…I’ll be able to get a pretty good deal. Oh, no. I won’t be spending my “rebate” check on the car; I am just going to walk on the lot and take a car with the “rebate.”
[end sarcasm]
I propose a new word…FREEBATE.
I’m not sure this package will do much to stimulate the economy. The tax cuts should be applied to corporate tax rates and permanent tax cuts for individuals. That’s been proven to work. But hey, I’ll cash my check like the rest of you and put it toward student loans and maybe an upgrade to the entree plus salad bar at Ruby Tuesday for The Wife.
