2009 has been an INTERESTING year to say the least. The year was filled with highs and lows (not necessarily in that order). But here we are…at the end of another year. As I look back on 2009 I can honestly say that I thank God for the year we had. God decided that it was in our best interest that we start off the year with some difficult news and sadness. But slowly He brought us out of that dark place by surrounding us with His love, His faithfulness, loving families, deepened friendships, bountiful blessings, and stories to tell.
So with that said, KTOWLOWDOWN, is taking a new direction (accompanied with a face lift). Blogging has been a pleasant distraction for a few years now. But then it became a chore…as you can tell from my lack of posts in 2009.
I finally came to the realization that you really don’t care about what I think about current events, political rants, and opining about anything and everything under the sun…and frankly…I didn’t enjoy it much either.
Let’s face it…I really am not that eloquent, original, or amusing when I try to give my two cents about worldly happenings. The blog-0-sphere is filled with other folks that do it much better than I do and with much greater authority. (Besides, anything I really want to comment on I can do through Twitter in under 140 characters). I agree…Twitter killed blogs.
But what Twitter can’t do is tell stories.
And I like to tell stories. And the stories I can tell the best are the ones that I live. Again, I am not that creative….“Write what you know”…goes the old saying…
So with that, I am creating a space to tell my stories. Stories that may only have intrinsic value to me and possibly my family and friends, but stories nonetheless.
That takes all the pressure off trying to be funny, smart, tactful, or meaningful.
I have never been any good at keeping a journal, even thought I have excellent penmanship and enjoy the aesthetics of my own handwriting…I digress…but I do enjoy telling stories and I want to get better at that skill.
So that’s why I have decided to make this blog a simply a collection of stories about our lives. The ups and downs and the ins and outs.
Maybe you’ll enjoy reading these stories, maybe you won’t…but that’s ok. This site is not really for you. This site is for my family.
My hope is that my kids and/or grandkids (Lord willing) will not stumble across (or over…they could break something) an old box of photos and trinkets collected over the years and wonder what stories accompany them. Because if my kids or grandkids are anything like me…they will be lazy…and just toss them back in the box to gather dust.
If you can relate to these stories, I would love to have your comments. If not, that’s ok too. Maybe you will enjoy and thank God that you are nothing like the folks at KTOWNLOWDOWN.
Bring on the New Year!
